Office Assistant Superintendent,
BUREAU OF REFUGEES, FREEDMEN AND ABANDONED LANDS,
Talladega, Ala. Jany 22 1867

Major General
Wager Swayne
Asst. Comr of Alabama

Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 16th inst, I have the honor to state, that with a view of arriving at a difficult understanding with regard to the terms upon which the Trustees, and the holder of an execution on the College; would sell the property. I went to day, to the place of Maj. Reynolds (ten miles from here), the holder of the execution on the property.

The Trustees, are willing to sell the property for sufficient to pay the debts. - said to be about $6,000- without and about $8000- with interest. The building cost about twenty two thousand dollars for its erection. There is about thirty eight acres of land with it - To twenty five acres, there is a good fitter. The property is in town, situated in a high and health locality. The building is of brick, three stories high, I did not measure the dimensions.
