holding the Messers B. & C. responsible for any difference in cost.

I regret exceeding that there has been any delay in having this corn forwarded. i am very anxious to get through with it, and return to my family that I remained in Cincinatti I might have had the whole of it in twenty days, and had I not been assured that this lot would have been delivered within twelve days, I would have either remained there, or gone to St Louis altho' at the latter place, corn was fully three cents higher. Having every reason to believe that it would be all delivered (as the parties had it, at two or three places, on the river) within the time, I made the purchase of them, expecting to save time, trouble, and expence, thereby.

It might not be out of place to sujist [[suggest]] the propriety of having the sacks - empty - returned to the Officers transferring this corn, - should more be required, it will cost fifteen cents less per bushel when the sacks are furnished by the purchaser

I will keep you advised of each shipment as completed. Thus far I have shipped all the Bacon, and Corn to Decatur, Mobile, and part to Selma, with that for Tuscaloosa, and Demopolis, marked, and awaiting transportation.

I am Very Respectfully
Your obt. Servt.
