La Fayette Ala Dr Sir There is an orphan girl (freedman) at a gentleman's by the name of Johnson, near La Fayette, who desires to come to Mr W H Partridges in this County. Mr Johnson claims to have bound her, & as she is a minor & without a Representative I conclude no contract, (against her will) is binding. Any statement Mr Partrige makes you may rely upon, & further that he is a man of well known humanity, kindness, & generosity & will do as he undertakes. Any assistance you may render in this case, would be fully appreciated. Very Respectfully Yrs &c N.A Adams Agt &c
