My partner P. H. Cook esq has been acting as an agent of the Freedmen's Bureau in this County since the lose of the war. When he received the appointment; disregarding the unpopularity which he incurred by accepting it, he did accept it, and has performed all the duties and functions pertaining to the position without fear or favor- without distinction of race or color - and to the eminent satisfaction both of the people here, and of the military authorities at Montgomery
