I directed Lieut. Logan to remove every third tier of the sacks of corn so as to permit the circulation of the air through the pile: And to issue the best of the corn for meal, and seed and the remainder should be acted on at these Headquarters.

I would respectfully recommend that the corn totaly  damaged, and that partially damaged be condemned and sold at auction: On account of the prospect of large arrival at Mobile of perhaps better corn, and the liability to further deterioration from the heat of summer, Corn being now two dollars per bushel it could perhaps be sold to better advantage now, than at any time hereafter
