Gadsen Ala. Clabourn Littlefield is still living with Johnson who refuses to give him up to his father. I filed a petition for a unit of Habeas Corpus before Judge Stundefer he granted the writ. Some time before the date of my first letter to you but he has never given us a trial yet nor do I believe he will until he is forced to do so. If there is any way to make Johnson pay for returning the boy I think it should be done. I have no doubt that Johnson is aware of General Swayne's late order alluding to such cases but he thinks the Bureau to far off to [tuch?] him or else he thinks the Probate Court will protect him. If Whitlock does not send you the required information relative the other other case I will as soon as I hear from him. I will take pleasure in giving you any information you are the agent, of your office may desire at any time.
