you wanted to no what Cockran had to do with the case  I never heard any person say any thing a bout it  as I was an officer they were very cautious how they talked before me as they thought that I would give the freedman a fare chance at law  I try to give them as good a chance at law as I do white persons as I do not believe in mob law  any way I did not no the man that was hung only from carrecter  there has not been any other deeds of outrage comited in our country  the freedman are getting along very well at this time  if any persons treats them a miss they are sure to come to me for advice  I generaly give them the best that I can and if they want any business attended to I do it for them  I have given you all the particulars that I no about the case of Vincen Thorington that was hung  you can write to me as I will be at home after this week & I will answer
