Major Genl Wager Swayne

Dear Sir

My Lady and my self are employed by one your agents to tach the Freedmen & built a house last year to teach in & taught four or five months and some of them are in debt to me yet, I felt they ought to have an Education, I have devoted ten years of my life to preaching and catechising them. they must be taught, they are not able to pay house rent & told them I would only charge them eight dollars per month apiece for the two rooms and they have paid about ten dollars for the two one those months and the other two months will the Department pay the rent what appropriation will you make towards erection a suitable house.

Yours truly
