Huntsville Ala. June 4" 1867.
Respectfully returned to D. H. Williams Lt 41st U.S. Infty & A.A.A.G. with information that carefull inquiry has been made into the merits of the within case and that to my judgement. Justice to Mr Clayton would Seem to demand the benefit of the award of the arbitrators and from what I know of the civil administration of the Law. I am Satisfied he will be proscribed on account of his political views to an extent that would jepardise his hope of Justice from the local authority.
