At the same time your Petitioner agreed to sell said Hawkins the stock on hand in the Tanyard which your Petitioner owned, said stock consisted of a considerable number of hides, soon capable of being made into Leather and at that time was worth [[strikethrough]] near [[/strikethrough]] one Thousand - Dollars in good currency. That the said Hawkins agreed to deliver to your Petitioner Eight Boxes of Tobacco of good quality - across the rebel lines- your Petitioner turned over to said Hawkins the Tanyard stock & fixtures but the said Hawkins wholly failed to deliver the Tobacco as agreed upon - that in the same trade about exchange of Land Tanyard, stock &c your Petitioner agreed to exchange cattle, hogs &c. and various household & kitchen furniture, farming utensils &c and your Petitioner in good faith performed his part of his agreement but the said Hawkins failed to comply with his part in most every particular. That about the 10th March 1864 the said Hawkins did execute and deliver to your Petitioner a deed to the 1382 acres of Land and it was also agreed that each would assist the families of the other to get passports to pass the Line. That your Petitioner obtained from the Federal authorities the necessary Passport for Mrs Hawkins & family & [[strikethrough]] with [[/strikethrough]] such articles as she desired and assisted
