Sir, I trouble you again relative to that Freedman's (Henry Murcheson) case, as that man Joe Watt, had sued me and others before our Probate Judge. The trial was to come off on last Monday and we were fully prepared for [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] trial, but the judge refused to try the case untill a further hearing from you. Watt, I understand is going to see you, he will tell you a very plausible tale, I've no doubt, but, the facts are these. Genl and I can substantiate every word. This negro worked for Watt, last year, and got nothing for it- only abuse, I can prove that Watt beat him with a stick, and he (Watt) said he would not have them (Henry and family) in his place. I hired them for this year, and Watt, again persuaded the negroes to stay and work on his place on shears, and said he (Watt) owed them enough to find them in provision, if not he would furnish it. They then worked a while and the
