On reaching home from a trip to Kane Ga I found your letter. The West Point matter stands thus. Mr Buckley informs me that 3 hundred dollars will be paid on our bills being presented.  This Mr. Caldwell will do in due time.  He adds, the other 3 hundred will be paid if your application is allowed, of which he has no doubt. I have sent Mr. Reece my check for 3 hundred.  The contract for the house was 13 hundred.  I purchased and paid for the lot and made a deed to the colored people.  I gave 5 hundred dollars cash.  We look to yuo  for 6 hundred, and the contractor takes the colored people for 4 hundred.  I had a long talk with Govs Patton & Flanders a few days since.  Gov P thinks Alabama will construct under
