At the request of Arthur Croom, I, James A. Abraham, make the following statment under oath-

In the summer of 1865 while Genl. McMillan commanded at Meridian, Mississippi, I was at his H'd Quarters, and among other things we spoke of the government property, mules, cotton &c which had belonged to the Confederate States, of the difficulties &c of collecting it. Genl McMillan told me he had sent some Cavalry here to collect it, and he would be glad if I would give them what assistance I could in doing so - and stated that as the confederate soldiers had ta-
