Selma ala June 8 1867 Gen Wager Swayne Dear Sir I write you to let you know that I did not ask Mr Clanton to go on a bond for me he said he would and I said nothing the [[arternip??]] he maid was to satisfie Sum of his friends and himself 3 or 4 of them got together the day before I Came away and said they would try and stop me and that would stop any headway he says he has been my friend if puting my wife in the yard house and having my children tied by men and whipt is a friend he has been one you are the Juge he has not tole the truth and I have not been Call for in Court he is not a honniss man. He owes me for Work now sir he was in Selma and I was on the Boat and saw other men from Montgomery and he new that i was heare I Came away to keep from working for them for nothin and he has cheet my Wife out of her labor General excuse me and Write to if you Please I am sick at Present But better and I when I first get home I will Write you again your friend Joseph Drawn
