Permit me to trespass upon your valuable time a little more, & submit the following, to your kind consideration.

Do not think that I am actuated by any impure motives in this difficulty with those men. I am afraid Col. that I have expressed myself perhaps too warmly this morning to you I think I have given you pain & I feel satisfied that in your mild & discreet dealings with me - the odds are against me as far as our mutual intercourse is concerned. My fortunes the last few years have suffered as much, that in my efforts to relieve them & through them my family, that often my equanimity gives way; & to dispel any bad impressions I might have occasioned in your mind, I write to you this as a quasi apology.

In conclusion let me beg you to endeavor to bring a compromise between us. All considered - I think over on the basis of Capt. Morgan & Mr. Vickers' estimate of crop, as one to be the most feasible & the most equitable - to save expenses. Do not re-
