Office Asst. Supt. Bureau R. F.& A. L. Greenville, Ala. Feb. 17th 1867 Lieut. J. F. Conyngham, Actg Asst. Adj. Genl Lieutenant: I have the honor respectfully to acknowledge the receipt of your communication enclosing transportation for five enlisted men, and report my action in accordance with its instructions. I beg leave respectfully to call your attention to a practice which seems to me highly impolitic, namely, the detailing of troublesome men, such as are known as "hard cases" to a position like this.
