Larkinsville Alabama. March 10th 1867.

Hon. J. N. Scruggs.

Dear Sir: Enclosed you will please find my report, for the distribution of the supplies received for the destitute of Jackson county. You will observe that the Bacon fell short 215 pounds, provided there had been 2800 Lbs.
But as there was an error in Cruikshanks' figures as Col. Callis informed us, the real proportions for Jackson county being 2597 pounds Bacon, it only fell short 12 pounds. You will also observe that the corn has more than held out. I cannot account for the excess of corn, unless it occurred in this way: in distributing the corn I did did not deduct the weight of the Sacks. I supposed they were weighed to me as corn, and consequently I did not take off their weight. The corn is in excess by about 62 Bus. Hoping all will be satisfactory I remain yours most respectfully &c.
