Office Sub-Assistant Commissioner,
BUREAU REFUGEES, FREEDMEN AND ABANDONED LANDS,
SUB-DISTRICT OF GREENVILLE,
GREENVILLE, ALA. Apr. 25 1867

Col. Cadle,

Dear Sir:
Judge Porter mentioned to me that while I was absent he wrote a letter to Hd Qrs asking if transportation can be procured for a colored woman whose pardon he had obtained, from Wetumpka to this place. Not knowing the address of the A.A.A.G. (though he might have learned from the papers) he sent it to Gen Swayne personally. He wishes to know if it will accomplish its object without another communication.

I am down with the chills, again which must account for the appearance of this note. Get my wood from the General if you please.

Sam S. Gardner
