Judge Doughertys court which is Circuit Court.

Mr Farmer has a spite against me because I moved a family of colored people from his premises that he had turned off, and I moved them away and they were living in a bush tent. I told Mr Farmer that rather than have any fuss with him if he would set his price on the tree I would pay for it - but he said I was impudent and he would swing me higher than Heaven before he quit me.

Now I am making a crop and have several freedmen at work, and to be compelled to lose time and be pulled and hauled and lose twice, because another man cut down a tree, and which I was willing to pay for rather than have any fuss or trouble, I think is worse than would be done to a white man or black one unless they had some spite against him. If this is according to law, I have got nothing more to say but I write to ask whether Judge Waddell is doing right by me. Write to me at Columbus Georgia

With my respects-
To General Swayne from
Gus Giddine. (col.d)

I want you if you please dismiss me from this case so that I can stay at home and attend to my farm - the Justice in my beat told Mr Farmer that he would dismiss the case if it was brought before him - was the reason he carried me out of my beat before Judge Waddell-
