Respectfully forwarded with the request that HS. Bennett, former Sheriff of Sumter Co. be ordered to release the within Cotton to George Grant, (Freedman) the same being his share for last year's labor. It was attached for the debts of Green W. Grant after the crop had been divided. George Grant has no money to prosecute this matter, and if not released by order, will have to lay out of the use of the Cotton 18 months, if forced to [[?]] the action of civil law
