Reports an atrocious massacre of Freedmen, and barbarous treatment of Freedwomen perpetuated in Butler County in May 1865, which has never been judicially investigated States most of the Participants are still living in the Community, and are men of large means and influence . and states that the pretext for Committing the barbarity was the fact, that Travick the leader of the Murderers, was shot in the arm by one of the Freedmen for forcibly violating his wife, and those of some other Freedmen.
