There has been several deaths in my immediate neighborhood and I feel certain they were neglected to a great extent I called to see a colored woman this evening who was reported to me as dying I found her verry sick sent to the drug store bought medicine and gave her I have done the same thing in several cases I know I will be stigmatized and called a negro worshiper or Black.Republican which names in their estimation are the worst they can find But I do not care if I can be instrumental in Gods hands of doing good no mater (with me) what color the recipients are if they are sick and suffering I am willing to risk almost anything When any of the colored people die they are so poor they cannot be buried in any decency.
If you can be instrumental in sending some funds for such cases it will be greatefully and thankfully received I know your position is one of many cares and responsibilities and I know you have verry little time to the reading of long letters and therfore I will be as brief as possible I know I am verry incompetent to address a gentleman of your understanding I know I am not capable of drawing fancy sketches but I can state real facts which I have done in the foregoing

Verry Respectfully
Mrs Elizabeth Harris
