Dear Sir, Yours of the 8th Inst came to hand several days since asking Information relative to the treatment of Union Prisoners &c. There was none kept near this place but I have talked with some that was Guards at Andersonville and their statement confirms the reports that we have had in the news papers of the horrors of that almost Infernal pen There were a few kept a short time in Columbus Ga, but were treated as Prisoners of War. In July 1864 at the time Gen'l Rosseau's Raid on the M and W.P. R.R. a Federal Soldier by the name of Andrews from Ohio (Regiment and Company unknown) was Taken prisoner near Auburn Ala. and delivered to one Col. Eckels. He (Col. Eckels) called on one Captain Armstrong
