The Freedmen thought that their ticketts were not right and although some of the freedmen voted the ticketts as they were (without the names of the Delegates) many of them came to me and I told them how it was and gave them at their request other "ticketts" Some time during the A.M. of Oct 2nd I found that some on was giving Union Republican ticketts to the freedmen with the word a for ar" before the word "convention" canecled with a pencil and the word "no" substituted and under the words "for Delegates" was written the word "nobody" I was told that they were Distributed by the man that let them in at the gate into the Court yard and that this man told the Freedmen that they were good Radical ticketts. I went to this gate and told the Freedmen of the imposition and was ordered away by the young fellow and he would not let me pass through the gate there had been a squad of about a dozen just let in that all had the ticketts above described I told the Freedmen what their ticketts were and proceed at this request to give them others telling them at the same time what was on each tickett Several men then came up to me and some of them shook their
