fists &c and said that I should not change the tickets for the Freedmen. Mr. Holland (Sheriff) then came up and threatened to arrest me if I attempted to change the tickets and then walked off. I then went on and gave the freedmen other tickets telling the freedmenthe contents of the changed and whole ballots. Liut Atwood being present the "Rebs" dare not interfere   
I was quite unwell and hardly able to be about and I requested the Judges of election of Election in case that I could not be at the place of election the next day (3rd) to watch and see that freedmen voted such ballots as they wanted to. and I was told that as they though the Coast was clear an effort was made to full the Freedmen into voting ticketts changed as before mentioned but the Judges of the election asked the freedmen if they wanted to vote radical ticketts as a democratic and explained as I had done the two ballots I am told that an effort was made to force the Judges to except the first the ballot offered but Lieut Atwood being present order was restored Mr Mand one of the Judges will state how matters went the 3rd day. I would like to come down to Montgomery on bureau business to see Judge Smith Supt of Registration yourself and others
