A.J. Williams witness for plaintiff being called on the stand the second time states that sometimes Mr Evans would work by himself and Levan would work sometimes by himself of Saturday evenings and he thinks they are about even on that score. The witness states that the freedman Levan cut wood and made fires for Mr Grant during the winter and Spring season of the year but dont know that he kept it up during the year but did make fires when called upon but that the time consumed in making said fires was not sufficient to delay his time from working in the farm witness states that Levan went out as early as the hands did that P.F. Grant was attending to for Dr Tompkins but that witness and Evans went to field sooner than the freedman did witness states from the recolection of the contract that Levan was to go and to work as Mr Evans did and at time he Levan did not, at times was a little behind
