Feby 25th 1867 L L James To Generl Swain Dear Sir Will you pardon me for calling your attention to a matter that may be of no interest to you In Jany Last I made and entered in to a written contract with a Colored woman for her services & the services of her two children, she reporting her self to be 50 years of age & her oldest girl 12 the other 7 year old she sending her self to Labor faithfully either in the house as Cook &c or, in the farm & to have her two children do so too and I after she has performed her part. Binds my self to pay her $30 for her labor & the labor of the children & furnish them good house plenty to eat & fuel I found her in a very inferior house
