Union Town Perry County Ala July 8 1869

Dear Sir,
I have and Old Man 80 large odd years old, who serve'ed me faithfully for 40 odd years, who before the war, was not able to earn a supporte. I spoke to Mr. Christian last year about him, and he told me he could do nothing for him as there was only 100 Rations allowed to Perry Co and for me to drive the Old Man out of his cabbins, I cannot do it for as long as I have a crust of bread I will dived it with him. But as I am myself Seventy Two years old, and not able to work &c, and the war has left me poor, I am shure when you get this letter you will do something for us.
Please send me the act of Congriss that was passed last year, giving to all Loyal citizens 80 aceres of Land, if you have it, as there is great disfaction among them saying they want Land ann mules. As I am very much attached to my former slaves, the most of them being born my property, I am desirous of doing the best I can for them. If the U States will give them free transportation to South Western Arcansas
