Dear Sir

I have just recd. a notice from the Criminal Court of Pike County Ala. to appear before his Honor the fourth (4th) Monday in July to show Cause if any why judgement final Should not be ha. Now the facts impartially given are as folows. One John Cogburn, of this County, Bullock, went before the Probate Judge of Pike County and Swore out a warrant against myself and Wyatt Bonner in which writ he says I and Bonner Persuaded or decoid from his employment Some freedmen. you [[Acct?]] at once the grounds for the warrant, which is a violation of the apprentice Law.

Well, the facts are these. last year I had the mother of one Sam Dunkin emploid Mr Bonner had the mother of George Bonner Emploid. these two Boys Sam & George. were arrested for Petty Larceney they were found guilty. John Cogburn Said to them If they would work with him that year, he would pay the fine $26.00 and give them fifty Dollars and
