Solicits information in regard to the apprenticeship of three children of Ann, Maria, Wallace, to Danl Wallace.

Respectfully referred to Hon. W.H. Thornton, Judge of Probate Talladega County Ala. with the request that he furnish the information called for in this letter.

Respectfully returned to Chas. H. Ferris Asst Supt &c with the following statement.

"The three colored children was apprenticed to Daniel Wallis upon the Oaths of two Men that their mother was unable to provide a support for them, this was on the 19 Jany 1866 under §1215 of the Code of Ala.  No notice given to the mother, none then Required, as is now by the Act of Legislature passed & approved 23rd Feby 1866.

Proof was made that their father is dead.
