Dear Sir

You will please permit me to ask a question of interest to the planters as well as to the freedmen of this section In the first place where Freedmen made a Contract for part of the Crop and have been furnished with House room and provision for their families, and indebt for the same, have they the right to quit and hire to any one else - the case in person having rented Land purchased mules and hired freedmen for a portion of the Crop 1/4th and quit at this season of the year without any cause - ruins the man who has them hired, and ruins the prospect for a crop please answer - I want to do nothing but what is right and wish information

Most Resp J.J. Little
