Robinson Sprgs June 10th 1867

Genl Wager Swayne

Dear Sir

Inclosed find my return, for the distribution of 30 sacks of corn sent to me, through your kindness, last week.

The wants being so great, I had to give it out as you will see, very sparingly, and then it seems not half of the applicants was supplied even in a small way, and you by examining the return the Negroes rec'd their proportion, as well as I was able to discriminate, not knowing White from Black

The demand for bread from the needy is truly great, and can they procure a small pittance, for the next three or four weeks, I hope their crops will give them some support. I have received 58 sacks - and can you send some 50 sacks more. I believe the distress will be nearly over.

Many a blessing Genl. have you rec'd from the widows & orphans for your kindness
