Sir:-

I feel it my duty to report that that portion of the "Purveyor's" cargo of corn donated to the "Catholic Orphan Asylums" (170 Sacks), and the "Church Corn" (10 Sacks) has been sold at auction by Le Baron & Co. by direction of the Superintendent;  for the benefit of the Asylums.

The corn is now exposed for sale at $2.50 per Sack, and the most of it has been resold at that price.  I transferred the allowance of this Sub-District, and the different Asylums (2,060. Sacks), to Mr. J.P. Richardson as directed, and have not presumed to give any authority or permission to sell any portion of it.
