Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of a Telegram from Maj. Genl. Swayne, dated Montgomery the 13th week — ordering the arrest of Millon Malone. 

I have endeavored the make the arrest, but have not succeeded. A colored man informed me the next morning that Malone had taken the train to Macon that very morning; so I telegraphed to Capt. Hill at Macon, to arrest him on the spot as soon as the train should  arrive there. His answer I hereby enclose. I also enclose a receipt for $4.50 which amount I paid for the Dispatch to Capt. Hill. Malone has been seen here in town last Friday on the street by different persons, but has left and gone to Albany Ga. Others say he went down the river, although
