orders or curculars. he, Judge Hamlin assured me that it was his intention to enforce every order of the Military Commander and that he had heretofore and would hereafter use every effort to secure Justice to freedmen; that he knew nothing of the cases reported by Mr. Archer, but he would devote his personal attention to said cases, that he would see that Alexander Jones was required to settle with the freedpeople Crankfield, that he would be present at the trial and see that no imposition was practiced upon Crankfield's by exorbant prices for articles furnished them and that Jones either pay them or furnishes good security on short time; that he had seen General Orders No. 3 in the papers, since than had refused to apprentice any more children, but had not heard of any one wishing children released before and that he would at once see that Clabourn Littlefield who was bound to E.H.
