Russell Spring Term 1867
For Cutting Trees
Before Mr U.L. Martin a Justice of the peace for Russell County periodically came Charles Ivenson who after being sworn saith that he deponent was out hunting work and met this defendant. And inquired of him where he could get work, that deft. Cited deponent to Rebecca Bacon when deponent went to see Rebecca, she give him employ and sent deponent out to the woods and set him to cutting trees on her land, deponent further states that while cutting he made a mistake and got off on one Palmers land and cut one tree only, when Palmer came to where deponent was cutting told him that it was his tree, but to go on and cut and cord up the same and he Palmer would pay deponent for the same, which he Palmer [[crossed out]] would pay him for said labour which he [[/crossed out]] has never done deponent further states that Gus Giddins never employed him to cut any tree or trees this happened last year in the Fall.
