Dear Sir,
As I am one that have been distributing the Rations to the poor & indigent of Fayette County, I thought I would write you a few lines concerning the same &c &c.

There are many persons in my County. White and black, old and young, that are in need of assistance, that in my opinion will suffer unless the Government assist in paying for the Halling of the rations. The people of this county is very poor, and are not able to hall the rations, unless they are paid for it. Our County has no money, and to tax us to haul the rations will be more than we can stand up to. Our Courthouse have been burned to the ground, and we now have to be taxed, to build another, and also a new jail. We are in this county, just as poor as people ever gets to be, to live. This place was the camping place, for the playouts & [[B??]], during the Reign of Jefferson in the so called Confederate times. These gentlemen cut out, stole out, wasted, broke up, and run off, every thing in this country, that was any account that they could lay their hands on,
