Treasury Department
July 13th, 1867.

Sir:
I have the honor to state that so soon as the military authorities relinquish possession of the Marine Hospital at Mobile, it is probable that the same will be reopened by this Department for the accommodation of Marine patients at that port.

In review of this fact it is desirable that the furniture now in the building should remain there, and the object of this communication to ascertain whether the War Department will consent to transfer this property to the Treasury Department, and if so upon what terms.

I am, Very respectfully
Signed Lt. McCulloch
Secretary of the Treasury

Hon. Edwin M. Stanton
Secretary of War.
