I my affidavit of Aug. 1st 1867. Stating that while traveling in discharge of my official duties on the 10th of July 1867. when the government horse for which I was responsible died, and my duties would not permit any delay. There was an omission to specify that owing to the extreme heat and pressing demands for animals by the farmers in cultivation of crops, I found it impossible to hire a horse for temporary use and as the only means of discharging, my official duties I exposed my person property
