what action, if any, has yet been taken in the premises 

The Govt certainly should give liberal compensation for the ideas specified in my account and I was assured by Genl Howard at Washington & also by Genl Wager Swayne at Montgomery that the subject should be examined and equity done so far as was authorized by power in them vested.  If my demand seems too “liberal” it is more easy to diminish it than it would be to increase it if not liberal enough I will thank you to write to me at your earliest convenience 

My compliments to Genl Swayne & the several numbers of his staff with where I may be acquainted
