I have the honor herewith to call your attention to unmerciful treatment of a colored family in Coosa County by one Dr Kinsman of Hanover Precinct Coosa County Ala Dr. Kinsman employed the family of Manuel Brown consisting of Father Mother daughter of 19 years & three small children to labor for a portion of the crop. Dr Kinsmans wife was away in August it was discovered that the daughter of Manuel was pregnant. She confessed to her parents that the said Dr. Kinsman was the perpetrator of her ruin, at once a few of the Dr’s friends collected. The Doctor called the family together and told them that if they did not leave the Country at once, he would kill the last one of them . After a pretense of settlement he gave the family one dollar as their dues and said family fled into Brownsville Beat Clay County. I have obtained my information from a reliable source. In a few days I will see the offended parties and will furnish affidavits in conformity of of the statement. I am of the opinion soldiers had better be sent to Coosa County and remain
