The State of Alabama 
Choctaw County

This Indenture made this 28th day of December between Warner Bailey Judge of Probate for said county and his Successors in office of the first parts and William P. Hall of the county and state aforesaid of the second part 
Witnesseth - That the said judge has put places and apprenticed and bound Thomas Hall aged six years with him the said William P Hall to dwell as an apprentice until he the said "Thomas" shall attain the age of twenty one years according to the states in such cases made and provided. The father of the said "Thomas" being unknown and his mother being diseased and without means to support protect and take care of him and the said "Thomas" being unable to provide for his own support. the said William P Hall for himself his executors administrators consents and agrees that the said "Thomas" be apprenticed and bound to him and that he said William P. Hall for the use of the said "Thomas" will furnish a sufficiency of good and wholesome provisions, all necessary clothing working and lodging, treat him with kindness and humanity and instruct him in the occupation of farming the said William P Hall being a farmer and have him the said "Thomas" taught to read write and cipher as far as the single rule of threes and as the expiration of this term of apprenticeship
