I will submit two of these cases. - Four freedmen proceeding to Carrolton to attend the election, upon arriving in front of the house of a Mr Bonner (nine miles from Carrolton) were fired upon by two persons who came out of the house, followed for a distance of half a mile and again fired upon. They believe one of these men to have been one Mr Hicks who lives at the house. The freedmen are Warren Owens, Jake Taylor, Burrell Taylor, and Chesley Spencer. Their affadavits were taken but I could find no Justic of the Peace before whom they could be sworn.
