Office Actg. Asst. Com'r of Subsistence
Demopolis, Ala. March 8", 1867.

Lieut J.F. Conyngham
A.A.A. Genl. Sub. Dist. Ala.
Montgomery, Ala.

Lieutenant
I have the honor to request that a competent Enlisted man, one who is a good mathematician an pen-man, be detailed as soon as practicable, as clerk in the Subsistence Department at Demopolis, Alabama.

I have no clerk in the Subs. Depart. nor one who is acquainted with its first simplest principle. Consequently the entire clerical labour of that Dept. as well as its responsibility, devolves on me.

Very Respectfully
Your obedt Servant
P.E. O'Connor
Bvt. Capt. & 1st Lieut. V.R.C. A.C.S.
