Sir 
I have some freedmen employed cultivating my farm, there is some two or three of the men when I tell them to do a job, [[maers?]] not what it is they wont do it, they frequently tell me they won't do it. I want their labor I dont want to turn them off, will you be so kind as to inform me how to manage those hands to the best advantage?
