before J.R. Brooks as Justice of the Peace, that he had three days warning that he was to be sold, was sold by Mr Rutherford. Says he was sold for violating his contract. That Garnett said he violated his contract That he was working for Mr Garnett. That he was sold for a month at about $7.00 & that Mr Wright, and Mr Doras bought him.

Cross Examined by Defendants says that Mr Brooks said he had violated his contract & must be sold, & must be sold for a month & that Mr Brooks told him that he must work the entire month for Wright and Doras. he says that he had three days warning of the sale. says he was put on the block and sold to the highest bidder to Wright & Dorcas both bought him, but Doras [[strikethrough]] bought [[/strikethrough]] bid him off him. Mr. Garnett was a witness on the trial, and also Aunt Cena, Mr Garnett swore on the trial that he would not work. Aunt Cena, said he always worked well Says the day of the trial he told Mr Brooks he had not violated his Contract. That he had a written contract with Mr Garnett
