The girl is a bright mulatto, lives and sleeps in the house, is learning to read and write, being taught by Mr. B's daughter, is well clothed and fed, and kindly treated.
Alice has other relatives living in Livingston who also claim her services but their characters are such as would
have a fatal influence upon a young girl turned loose amung them.
Mr. Bevill is willing to release the girl if it is the desire of the Bureau. I would respectfully recommend that
she be allowed to remain with Mr. Bevill as I am satisfied she has a good home is kindly treated and will be taught
morality and virtue
Please send me instructions as to whether she is to remain or be given to her Grandmother
Respectfully
