General:
I respectfully make the following statements and petition

1. I was administrator of the Estate of Henry H. Harris of Sumter County, and lately had a settlement in the Probate Court then of my administration. The heirs and distributees were Mrs. Mary S. Harris, widow and several minor children of whom she was guardian. The settlement having been made, an appeal is taken to the Supreme Court and is now pending.

2. The matters of litigation have arisen out of the changes produced by the late unhappy sectional strife, for which I was in no way responsible, never having aided in bringing it about, or promoting its continuance. The questions arising on the trial of the case before the Judge of Probate involved transactions in the Currency of the so called Confederate States, and sales of merchandise and cotton, on the basis of such currency, and for it, or for notes with security given for payment; and the most serious matters of difference in the settlement of said administration arise out of former
