region at that time; and the cotton was sold taking a note payable to Mrs Harris as guardian with good security, which was delivered to her attorney - all being done with her approbation & was collected by her or her attorney in Confederate notes. She now seeks to charge me with the highest value since the war in good money, of this Cotton, [[strikethrough]] sold since the war [[/strikethrough]] which was so sold by her approval individually and as guardian, and for which she took the responsibility of the collection in Confederate currency.

5 She also requested me to collect debts on the estate & take Confederate money, & turn it over to her individually, or as guardian, or when collections were not so made, to take notes with security - payable to her as guardian for such debts. Accordingly I did this; and she seeks to charge me with good money for such collections.

7 With the value of the goods sold, for which such Currency was taken, she also seeks to charge me. The money thus received (if money it can be called) was used in paying of debts, & in paying over to her & her children, for nearly all of it.

8 She is besides seeking to deprive me of credits for debts against the estate which I have actually cancelled with such currency.
