Sir:
By [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] direction of General Swayne Com'd'g the District of Alabama you are hereby authorized to arrest J.L. Warren, W. White, Mike Floyd and John Cody supposed to be citizens of Barbom County Ala, wherever they may be found, and bring them before you [[strikethrough]] before you [[/strikethrough]]] for trial, or investigation upon certain acts said to have been committed by them against one Isaac Ritchey of Cass County Ill, as set forth in the accompanying Affidavit-
You are further desired if possible to ascertain what authority refused to take action in this case - and also if Mr Cody J.P. refused to act for Mrs Ritchey on her application for redress on being assaulted by one of the parties named.
You will avail yourself of a Civil or Military investigation whichever in your opinion will secure full Justice - and make a report of the result to General Swayne as soon as possible-
